Artificial intelligence calculates the characteristics of future materials and helps create what is still unknown to science.
At the California Institute of Technology, with the help of artificial intelligence, they created a new material on the first attempt. This is reported by Wiley Online Library.
Previously, to create a new material with the necessary properties, scientists had to use the “trial and error” method.
In order to create the necessary materials much faster without the need to conduct many experiments, experts involved artificial intelligence in this process. It uses a machine learning process to predict the properties of future materials and program their structure.
So, for the first time, the experts have developed a new material that has incredible compressibility and strength.
Scientists want to create a material whose large area can be compressed into a small volume. According to them, then bicycles, umbrellas and other things could be folded into a pocket.
Experts note that at this stage of the research, it is not the material they created that is important, but the possibility of “quick” creation of it using machine learning.
